Canucks & Kraken Poster

Photoshop / Post Production / Image Composite / Retouching
Project Overview
The Image Post Production course at BCIT was one of my most favourite classes. This final project required techniques learned throughout the course, but we were still given freedom for creativity. As my instructor, Mark, encouraged us to do something that would tie in with our own personal creative direction, I decided to create a poster related to one of my interests, competitive sports.
My goal for this project was to composite images that reflects the style of movie posters. I was mostly inspired by Marvel movies posters where they are able to display various locations and characters in different sizes seamlessly. I was fortunately able to work with photos taken by @jennthulu with the appropriate licensing. I chose photos from both teams, each having a close-up shot and a full-body shot.
I finished off this project by experimenting with creative styles using the final work. For one of them, I added a winter preset from the Camera RAW filters with some grain. This version creates a higher contrast with a cooler and rougher texture to the work. I also experimented with gradient maps for a more artistic approach.
